| After several years it was time to upgrade my tired Sony Xplode head unit. The Alpine Ai-NET ready receiver and ipod converter combination was the most fiscally reasonable setup to do what I wanted. mousersix said the install would take 10 minutes. Sure... But a big thanks to him for guiding me through the process over the phone. Of course the two head units had different sized harnesses for all of the speaker/ignition/battery-etc wires, so I had to cut and re-shave and re-connect every single one. My gauges and boost controller made this a tight job, as I didn't want to disconnect all of them. I was able to work around it, and got everything mounted without any major problems. I secured the KCA-420i iPod converter in the center section just below the head unit. So far after a day of testing I couldn’t be happier with the results. I can tuck my iPod away in the glove box, as I fed the connection wire through the same hole Michael drilled for the alcohol injection control unit wires. The Alpine interface for controlling the iPod is obviously not as amazing as the original iPod controls, but it's very simple and straightforward. Finding a particular song in a particular playlist takes no time at all. Here's a photo from the install, I'll have a couple more "after" shots tomorrow. Enjoy!
